Through serving the 99 Cents Only Stores in various managerial advancements which started in the year 1991, Eric Schiffer proved that he is not a force to be reckoned with as he showed unmatched skills and impressive talents as the company’s director. One of the probably reason why he has made such a great impact for the company is because of his excellent educational background; Mr. Schiffer received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the Duke University. Then, he later on went to get an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He was promoted as president after working for over 9 years in the company. He received the President position in the year 2000.
Five years after that, which was on January 1, 2005 he became the CEO or the Chief Executive Officer of the company. Mr. Schiffer didn’t only focused on working for the company itself but he also spent his free time as a venture capitalist for a venture capital firm known as the Oxford Partners from the year 1987 up to the year 1991.
The main venture of the company is centered on the retail sales of consumable and basic yet general type merchandise. The stores of the company’s provisions all of their customers a various selection of consumer goods but still maintaining product quality. The store also sells discount closeout merchandises that are below all its standard or usual prices. A statistic in 2011 showed that the company has now over 285 retail store branches across the USA placing 211 branches in the state of California, 27 in the state of Arizona, 35 in the state of Texas and the least branches is in the state of Nevada where there are only 12 branches there. The average gross square feet of these stores has resulted to approximately 21,200. It has been able to open 11 new stores during the economic recovery year of 2011, thanks to Mr. Eric Schiffer and his team, who lead this advancement for the company.
Recent news about the company has stated that the firm decided to close one store in California during the fiscal year of 2011 after the lease of the branch was expired, But Mr. Eric Schiffer represented the company and stated that they have further plans for this and it does not mean anything whatsoever. The company also does sales through wholesale or bargains. They sell items that are highly discounted below their normal standard price to their customers like retailers, exporters and distributors.
